Naturopathic Medicine Licensure
To practice as a naturopathic physician in the U.S. or Canada, students must pass the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Exam (NPLEX) conducted by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE). They must also apply for licensure in the state or province in which they plan to practice. Students are responsible for familiarity with the state’s or province’s scope of practice and licensing and renewal requirements through their state, provincial or territorial licensing board.
The professional organization representing naturopathic physicians in the U.S. is the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP). In Canada, the national association is the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).
